DCE asks Ghanaians to co-exist Peacefully

Mr Anthony Aggrey, Wassa East District Chief Executive, on Friday said Ghana could develop to the desired level if the people live together peacefully.

He said co-existing peacefully was the only way to transform Ghana to the level desired.

Mr Aggrey was addressing a parade of school children to mark the district’s celebration of the country’s 58th independence anniversary at Daboase.

He said the theme for this year’s celebration “Achieving Transformation through National Unity” could not have been more appropriate.

Mr Aggrey asked the people to continue living peacefully, devoid of tribalism, religious intolerances, ethnocentrism, nepotism and excessive partisan politics.

He said although the country has been able to make some modest gains and is now a middle income economy, more needs to be done.

Mr Aggrey said, “We are capable of achieving greater feats and we have to continue to strive to consolidate the gains of independence, politically and economically”.

He said the quest to transform Ghana into a prosperous nation, preferably a high income one, depends on the people, who have to change their attitude towards nation building and be law abiding.

“We must pay our taxes, participate in communal labour and other events that help in community development and desist from practices that are inimical to our safety, unity and our quest for massive transformation and also take good care of state properties”.

“Traditional authorities, Nananom and their people should work hand in hand with the District Assembly and not fight against it, so that progress can be achieved”, Mr. Aggrey said.

He assured the people that the Daboase-Atieku road would be graveled to open up the district for economic activities.

Mr Isaac Adjei -Mensah, the Member of Parliament for the area and Deputy Minister of Roads and Highways, assured the people that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government would honour its electioneering promises and develop the nation.

Prizes were presented to pupils who excelled in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the district last year.

Master Afful Richmond Ofosu of Subri Industrial Plantation Limited (SIPL) District Assembly (D/A) Junior High School (JHS) was adjudged the best candidate, followed by Master Asmah Albert Agyeman Junior also of SIPL JHS.

In the Girls’ category, Udoh Ida of SIPL D/A JHS placed first followed by Boadzi Anita Annan, also of the same school.

Later, he commissioned a GHC280,000 Out-Patient Department for the Daboase Health Centre assisted by Mr Aggrey.

Mr Adjei-Mensah commended the Wassa East District Assembly for constructing the facility to improve health delivery in the area.
