Minister Orders Assemblies To Prosecute Offending Residents

Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister, has ordered the assemblies to prosecute residents who did not partake in the National Sanitation Day exercise.

President John Mahama instituted the national event to ensure a clean society devoid of cholera and other communicable disease with support from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development.

The exercise, which is the fifth edition, has seen little participation by the people of Sekondi-Takoradi.

The focus of this month's exercise was on the Kwesimintsim Sub-metro where the Regional Minister, together with officials from the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly, the Regional Co-ordinating Council, assembly members and the police participated.

Mr Aidoo, who expressed displeasure with the turnout, charged the various assemblies to find innovative ways to sustain the exercise.
