3 Arrested Over Sex Drug Scandal

THREE young boys are in the grips of the Sekondi Police for attempting to drug three unsuspecting ladies in order to sexually abuse them.

The arrest took place at the Bosomtwi Sam Fishing Harbour in Sekondi on Saturday and the police gave the names of the suspects as Nana Kobina, 20; Evans Nkrumah, 21; and Frederick Okyere, 20.

They are all said to come from Inchaban in the Shama District of the Western Region.

The victims, whose names have been withheld, are said to be aged 16, 18 and 21.

The police command said on Saturday, March 7, some fishermen spotted the three suspects with their victims at a bar belonging to the harbour’s chief fisherman, Nana Kofi Essoun.

The fishermen immediately suspected foul play and monitored the group closely.

The suspects ordered for some alcoholic drinks for the victims and discreetly slipped the aphrodisiac content into the drinks meant for the ladies.

According to the police, the vigilant fishermen quickly raised an alarm, preventing the girls from drinking the laced drinks.

The suspects were busted right there and later handed over to the police.

The drug, named ‘Queen of Desire,’ is said to “make one feel like having sex more than he/she normally would.”

Speaking to journalists, one of the suspects, Nana Kobina, who is also a teacher at Ideal College, a private senior high school (SHS) and remedial college in Takoradi, confessed to buying the drug, but insisted that he was coerced to do so by Frederick, one of his accomplices.

The third suspect, Evans Nkrumah, however, said he had no knowledge of the act.

The three ladies, who were visibly shocked, said they met Nana Kobina, who is an old friend, at another spot in Inchaban on Friday evening and he introduced them to his accomplices and invited them out on Saturday.

At 5am on Saturday, they were called by the suspects and they decided to attend the Armed Forces Open Day Exercise at the Sekondi Naval Base together.

On their way to the Naval Base, they stopped at the said drinking spot where the incident occurred.

The Sekondi Harbour Police are carrying out further investigations into the matter.
