BA United Sack Mohammed Gargo After Just One Game

The management of Ghana Premier League side BA United have unanimously agreed to sack head coach Mohammed Gargo less than a week after his appointment, Accra-based Atinka FM has reported.

The Brong Ahafo club appointed the former RTU coach as a replacement for the departed Frimpong Manso but Gargo could only last for Five days as management of the club find his post match comments after the loss to Wa All Stars as damaging.

The struggling BA United have earlier this month sacked its entire management and appointed a new body to steer the club, but new coach Gargo has been relieved of his duties just after his first game in charge.

"Yes, I can confirm to you that the management have decided to sack Gargo because we feel he cannot continue to work with players he has accused of match fixing", A management member told Atinka FM on condition of anonymity.

"He (Gargo) is on his way to meet the club's CEO, Roy Arthur in Accra and that is where he will receive his letter of termination of appointment",

"His comments were detestable and so there is no way we can keep him with the club",

Mohammed Gargo has attributed Brong Ahafo United’s run of poor results to their players’ involvement in betting activities.

The ex-Ghana international took charge of the team following the resignation of Frimpong Manso who guided them to secure a qualification back into the Ghana Premier League after 10 years in the 'wilderness' of Ghana football.

However, Gargo after his first game that resulted in a home defeat in the hands of Wa All Stars, believes the playing body of B.A United are the once behind the dwindling fortunes of the club by fixing matches to go in favour of their bets and, thus, will consider whether continuing with his job or not in the next couple of days.

“What is happening here I don’t think is a technical problem; there is a lot that one needs to really find out. I am very disappointed with the players’ attitude towards this match, although we had one training session, I did everything to ensure a win,” he said in a post match interview.

“Some of the club's key supporters came to tell me that the players have been partaking in football betting with Safari and the likes and they even do it to let the team lose, which in a way confirms the rumours going around and in such a situation there is nothing that one could do.

“I have to think twice about it, whether I will continue here or not because what is actually going on here is killing football. I don’t want to be part of a losing team,” he added.

B.A United a lying bottom of the league table with 7 points in 10 games.
