Kwabre SHS Faces Eviction Threat From Landlord For Nonpayment Of Gh5,000 Rent

The Headmaster of Kwabre Senior High School in the Nkoranza municipality of the Brong Ahafo region, Mr. Sam Otchere has revealed that the school is under incessant tension by the landlord to vacate the land over nonpayment of Gh¢5,000.00 rent.

According to the Headmaster, the landlord has issued several threats to forcefully expel the school if it fails again to honor the bargain.

The about 9 plots of land was given to the school on condition of monthly pay of unspecified amount to the owners but upon checks, it was revealed Kwabre Senior High School has since adhered to the agreement till its current  financial challenge.

Aside the threats, the headmaster lamented, the landlord has been engaging with his staff in an abusive manner which to him does not speak well of the school; describing the landlord’s action as “worrying and disturbing”.

He added that Kwabre Senior High School is also currently reeling under series of challenges and difficulties including accommodation for teachers and students.

However, among the measures for a permanent solution, the Member of Parliament for Nkoranza South and a Deputy Local Government Minister, Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum told Peacefmonline.com his outfit is in collaboration with the Education Ministry to construct an ultra-modern facility for the school on a new vast land.

Among the project is a 12 classroom storey- building facility, a dormitory facility, staff bungalows, toilet facility and a science lab.

But sadly, in the midst of the fierce hostility and intimating posture of the landlord to vacate the school from its current campus, some contractors on the new site are still struggling to meet deadlines.

Kwabre Senior High School was established in 2007 as a community based secondary school and later absorbed into a government secondary in 2011. The school started with about 30 students but currently  has 600 students.

According to the Headmaster, the school has scored 100 percent for four consecutive years in the West African Senior Certificate Examination and has topped some ‘big’ schools in the region.

He passionately appealed to government as a matter of urgency to provide the school with a pick up vehicle and Plant to ensure convenient movement of staffs and to also manage the unsteady energy crisis prevailing in the country at the moment.
