Im Flattered Gyimah-Boadi

The Executive Director of the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) Professor Emmanuel Gyimah-Boadi has told Citi News, he will decline an offer to replace outgoing Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan.

Professor Gyimah-Boadi’s name has come up amongst others who are likely to replace Dr Afari Gyan as he prepares for his retirement later in 2015.

Speaking to Citi News about the latest development, the renowned Professor in Political Science said: “… I am flattered by it but I just want to put on record that I do not aspire to that position; I am not available for that position. Even in the event that it is offered, I shall turn it down,” he stated emphatically.

This he explained is because “I am occupied, I have too many things to do.”

The Executive Director of CDD said he currently heads Afrobarometer research projects in 35 countries hence cannot accept the offer adding that “I’m still doing top international governance and democracy advising [and] I am satisfied enough with what I do.”
