JEC Promotes Sports Development At Mansoman SHS

Mansoman Senior High School (SHS) in the Amansie West District has received a cheque of five thousand Ghana Cedis (GHC 5,000.00) towards the development of its football pitch.

The amount which was donated by the Jackson Education Complex (JEC), a private teacher training institution was aimed at promoting sporting activities in the school.

Established in 1973, the school has over the years been sharing a football pitch with members of the community, a situation which is adversely affecting its performance in sports competitions.

It was against this background that the school made an appeal to JEC when it held a free career guidance seminar for students of Mansoman SHS recently.

Touched by the plight of the school, authorities of JEC last week donated the amount to enable the school to develop its own pitch to ward off competition from the town folks.

Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, Principal of JEC who presented the cheque said the donation was in line with its corporate social responsibilities.

She said contemporary education should not focus only on academics but also sports to unearth hidden talents in students, adding that holistic development of students was vital to their future.

The Principal, therefore, appealed to other public-spirited individuals and corporate bodies to invest in the provision of sports facilities in various second cycle schools across the country.

Mr. Andrews Kofi Sarkodie, Headmaster of the school who received the cheque expressed gratitude to JEC for the support which, he noted, would translate into good performances in inter-schools sports competitions.

He stated that the school was one of the deprived in the country and called on other philanthropists to come to the aid of the school.
