Finance Ministry Begins Economic Policy Hearings

The Ministry of Finance and the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) have begun policy hearings with Ministries, Departments and Agencies in preparation towards the 2016 budget statement and economic policy. An official statement said the hearings, which are part of the budget statement and economic policy preparation process, have been scheduled for March 16 to 30. The purpose of the policy hearing is to discuss the policy objectives of MDAs as outlined in the Ghana Shared Growth and Development Agenda (GSGDA II), in order to avoid policy duplications and identify common areas in a sector for collaborative policy interventions and funding. They would be jointly chaired by the Minister of Finance and the Director General of the National Development Planning Commission. This is the first time the policy hearings are being organised separately from the Technical Hearings, as both hearings have been organized at the same time in recent years.
