Re-assignment Is Not A Demotion Ayariga

Outgoing Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga has dismissed suggestions his re-assignment to the Ministry of Environment, Science Technology and innovation is not a demotion.

Ayariga was re-assigned just 9 months after taking over from Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah as the Minister for Youth and Sports.

Ayariga’s critics say his consistent attack on the media and his failure to make public the 2015 AFCON budget for the Black Stars was the cause of his demotion to the Ministry of Environment Science Technology and innovation. But he clearly thinks otherwise

“I will be surprised to hear that anybody treats my re-assignment as a punishment or demotion or anything of that sort,” Ayariga told Citi FM.

“I am happy to be given the opportunity and the challenge to be responsible for such a sector

“I am happy to serve the President in any capacity that he deems fit and appropriate. The President can re-assign Ministers to any Ministry and that should not be read to mean anything.
