Cat Meat Is Good For The Heart, Doctor Reveals

Cat meat has been described as a very healthy food which is good for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases (heart diseases).

Dr. Kinsley Opoku Agyeman, a medical doctor made the stunning revelation in an interview with Atinka News on Tuesday.
According to him, the meat contains high level of protein, low cholesterol as well as low level of saturated fat, which aids the human immune system.

Dr Opoku Agyeman therefore encouraged Ghanaians, both young and old to consume the meat since it is another vital source of protein with only 10% bone formation.

Atinka News spoke to some Ghanaians who have great taste for cat meat and some said they prefer the meat to other “brands” because it is very delicious.

Acceptability of cat meat as a food source varies in different parts of the world. Some countries have resorted to the consumption of cat meat in desperation during wartime or poverty, while others believe eating cat meat will bring good luck or health. A number of cultures and various religions consider the consumption of cat meat to be taboo for humane reasons.

In Ghana, cat meat which has many accolades such as “St. Joseph”, “Yaw Sarpong” and “fine girl” has its price ranging from GHS20.00 to GHS30.00 depending on the size.

This implies that the demand for cat meat is very high in spite of the fun poked at people who prefer the meat of the domestic animal.

However, it remains to be seen if the latest revelation by the medical doctor will change the negative perception some Ghanaians have about the meat.
