A 35-year old man has severed his wife and child in a cold bloodbath.

The man, whose name was not given, was last seen on Wednesday around 11:00 pm where he hacked his wife and child with a sharp object.

He is said to have also poisoned himself after causing the harm.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Dr. Larbi, a Nursing Administrator of the St. Dominic Hospital at Akwatia where the incident occurred told host Nana Yaw Kesse that the culprit visited his wife after separating for a while.

During his visit, the man and his wife picked a quarrel which ensued in heated arguments and misunderstanding.

The man therefore chopped his wife and went ahead to cut his child into pieces and after realizing his actions, drunk a poisonous substance.

“The man hails from Suhum and the woman resides at a suburb of Akwatia called camp. The man came for a visit. I believe they used to bond but they have separated about two years ago or so. So, I think he wanted to go back with the woman to Suhum but she disagreed…I believe he came prepared because he possessed the poisonous substance himself," Doctor Larbi told the host.

The mortal remains of the child have since been deposited at the morgue of St. Dominic Hospital.

The mother and another individual who suffered serious injuries while intervening to end the tussle are responding to treatment.

Meanwhile, the culprit died Thursday morning at 3 am at the hospital.
