Deaf School Appeals for Support for Hole- in Heart Pupil

The Kibi Unit School for the Deaf has launched an appeal for Kwaku Kotei, a 12 year old deaf and dumb kindergarten pupil who has been diagnosed with a hole in heart.

The boy, who was brought to the school under that condition is said to be growing weaker and therefore finds it difficult to concentrate on school activities.

This came to light when the Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Ms Mavis Frimpong, presented some items donated by Joy Industries  to the school.

According to the headmaster of the school, Mr Michael Cudjoe, the boy’s condition was revealed by his parents during his admission process, and that he was given admission  because he was deaf and dumb.

He said, the parents occasionally visits but are not in the position to send the child  to hospital for further treatment  and so only manages the symptoms and indicated that, the boy was always ill and weak.

The headmaster said, several attempts to get the parents to send the boy to Korle-Bu for special attention has failed and therefore appealed to the Regional Minster to solicit for support for the boy to enable him to receive treatment.
