President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his pledge to end the current power crisis currently facing the country.
The President is confident that the measures put in place by his government will soon bring to a halt the power crisis.
President Mahama who made the remarks when he paid a working visit to the Accra Breweries Limited in Accra, also stated that the government has also made investments to ensure regular water supply.
The Electricity Company of Ghana is currently shedding load in the country following erratic power supply.
“Government is doing its best to regularize and bring to normal the power situation. I want to assure you that soon we will be able to restore reliable power supply,” Mahama assured.
He observed that “I know that we have a problem with water, we’ve been putting a lot of investment into making water available and like an industry like yours you use a lot of water and so we are doing everything possible to ensure that water level is reliable.
“We’ve increased water supply to Accra by in excess of 50 million gallons, 40 million gallons from the new Kpone plant and another 30 million gallons from the new desalination plant that we have introduced. One of the things we released in this period of power outages is that water supply is affected too because we use electric power to pump water and so sometimes when there have been outages in Weija or Kpone then it affects water supply but once the power situation regularizes I think that water supply will be more reliable.”
