Timbillah, Others To Face Disciplinary Action (AUDIO)

The Police Council has directed that disciplinary action be taken against Commissioner of Police (COP) Mr Patrick Timbillah and all other suspects who were allegedly involved in the recruitment scam.

Some of the other suspects include Constable Ruth Agyiri, Coporal Gideon Sarpong and other civilians who were all indicted by the Special Task Force that investigated the police recruitment scam.

The Council met on Monday to consider the report on the investigations on the recruitment scam which was submitted last week.

A statement signed by Superintendent Cephas Arthur of the Police Public Affairs Unit said at the end of the council’s meeting Monday, it endorsed the report submitted by the Special Investigation Taskforce and  directed that all the Police Officers investigated in the fraud case should remain on interdiction.

“That internal disciplinary action should be initiated into the conduct of the officers, and that this is without prejudice to any criminal prosecutions that may be directed by the Attorney-General’s Office against them...the case docket should be processed and same forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Office for legal directives as a matter of urgency. That the Police Administration should take measures to sensitize and continue to educate the public on police recruitment processes so to as avoid reoccurrence of this incident.”

Supt. Cephas Arthur speaking in an interview on PEACE FM morning show 'Kokrokoo' gave further explanation on the content of the statement and added that some of the suspects are on bail while others are still in court.
