MMDAs Sign Performance Agreement With GES

Directors of Education within the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies across the country have signed a Performance Agreement Statement with the Ghana Education Service (GES) aimed at improving upon education in their areas.

Targets have been set for the Directorate of Education considering the number of schools and their population.

Mr. Godfred Axolu, Nkoranza Municipal Director of Education announced this at a meeting of the staff at his outfit at Nkoranza in Brong-Ahafo Region on Thursday.

He emphasised the need for the staff of the directorate to play their individual roles so as to achieve their target.

He urged the circuit supervisors to visit the schools regularly and offer the necessary support to teachers for them to increase their output.

Mr. Axolu explained that under the performance agreement, the various assemblies were expected to improve upon their infrastructural facilities, including furniture and sanitation to enable the students study under conducive environments.

He said the Government would also improve upon the logistics situation in the schools, adding that enough textbooks and school uniform would be supplied to schools to promote teaching and learning in the communities.

Meanwhile, in line with the Agreement, circuit supervisors have been tasked to ensure the preparation of accurate records and data on all school communities to keep the Government abreast with the existing conditions of the schools for necessary attention and improvement.
