The District Chief Executive for Gomoa East in the Central Region, Kingsley Ehun-Armah has resigned as District Chief Executive on grounds of ill health.
Confirming the development, the Central Regional Minister, Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, said the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) had received a resignation letter from Mr Ehun-Armah, on Friday
He disclosed this at a meeting of National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional executives, members of the communication team and media practitioners from the region, in Cape Coast on Sunday.
The meeting, which was also attended by the Central Regional Minister, metropolitan, municipal and district chief cxecutives from the area, discussed developmental projects being initiated by the government in the region, and how the media could support development in the region.
Mr Quansah explained that the DCE had been ill for some time now and decided to resign his post and seek medical treatment.
On the progress of the region, the minister called for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure development of the area, and pre-mix committees at landing beaches to render proper accounts on sales of pre-mix fuel.
The Central Regional Communications Director of the NDC, Kwesi Dawood, advocated the dissolution of the committees, and advised government to ask the regional minister to supervise the sale of pre-mix fuel.
He explained that some members of the committees were benefiting from the sale of the fuel to the detriment of the fishermen.
Mr Dawood alleged that some members of the committees, who do not own canoes, hoarded the product, created artificial shortage and sold the fuel at exorbitant prices to customers.
