NDC Youth Organiser Suspended For Going Public

Daily Guide has gathered that the Effia constituency youth organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western Region, Alhassan Mohammed, has been suspended indefinitely.

According to sources, the youth organiser was suspended for accusing the deputy Regional Minister, Alfred Ekow Gyan and the Sekondi- Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Capt (rtd) Anthony Cudjoe, of reneging on their promises to give the NDC youth in the region jobs.

Sources had it that Alhassan Mohammed was suspended for complaining publicly without resorting to the laid down procedures in the party.

In an interview with Daily Guide yesterday, Alhassan confirmed that he had been suspended. He told the paper that because he was not happy with the decision, he refused to take the suspension letter. He indicated that the unemployed aggrieved NDC youth in the area would have a meeting today to decide the next line of action.

“We can decide to organise a demonstration or press conference to expose the accused MCE and the deputy regional minister the more,” he revealed.

He indicated that the youth in the area were finding life unbearable under John Mahama’s administration because of their inability to get jobs.

According to him, the NDC youth were uncomfortable when people complained about the harsh economic situation in the country, since the government appeared not to be doing much to alleviate the suffering of the people.

He alleged that even within the party, there were some government officials who were deliberately working to make the government unpopular by neglecting the concerns of the foot soldiers. He said that it was about time the President was made aware of what was happening to some of them because they suffered and toiled for the NDC.

The NDC Western Regional Youth Organiser, Youknows Mohammed, also supported the assertions made by the youth.
He noted that it was appalling to learn that when some youth approached the deputy regional minister to help them find jobs, the minister told them to go and sell Kooko (porridge).

Meanwhile, a group calling itself “Concerned Youth League of the NDC in Takoradi has also threatened to lock up the Takoradi constituency office of the party very soon to protest against the deputy regional minister.

This was contained in a statement issued by the group and signed by its chairman, Anthony Tsiwah, and copied Daily Guide.

“The members of the group want to stage a peaceful demonstration and lock up the Takoradi constituency office to tell the leaders of the party in the area to wake up to their responsibilities,” the statement said.
