NOTWITHSTANDING the current economic difficulties bedeviling the country, we think it is important for us to renew our hopes in Ghana during this Easter season. Indeed it is time for a renewed hope amidst continued challenges our country is going through. And, for that matter, we must stay focused and have the belief that the country will definitely see light at the end of the tunnel.
IT is also equally important for us to use these Holy Days to reflect on the momentous sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for each of us, and to celebrate the triumph of His Resurrection. And this time, Today believes, we should remain calm and focused, and desist from actions that can undermine the unity of this country.
IN our moment of merriment we must try to avoid any provocative comment(s) that can drag us into any discourse that may damage the country’s forward march to economic prosperity. What we must all bear in mind is that Ghana is bigger than any individual, group of persons or institution.
THIS brings to the fore the need for us to be guided and guarded constantly by an uncompromising sense of unity, fellowship and greater purpose. This country has always stood for competition and choice, and if we all believe in these principles, then we must all accept the fact that Ghana will always be there while political parties will come and go.
THIS is the more reason why we at Today sometimes find it very bizarre when our politicians try to ride on the interest of the nation for their selfish and parochial interests by engaging the youth to do their dirty works for them. Ghana needs all of us to build the future and for that matter we cannot continue to sacrifice the interest of the country for some selfish politicians.
WE have a duty to perform to ensure that we all live in peace irrespective of our political lineages. This, we think, should be non-negotiable! We must engage ourselves in the governance of the country by putting the government on its toes so that it does not lose focus in the administration of the nation.
GOVERNMENTS must understand that they are formed to project nationhood and not individualistic ambitions or a particular political party agenda as it is the case here. For instance, developed countries like the United States of America (USA), the United Kingdom (UK), France and Germany always come together as one people after every election and think about how to move their countries forward.
WE can only look up to the government to improve the general outlook of the economy so as to give the people the needed confidence to continue having faith in Ghana. Ghanaians are looking to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to restore hope and offer the kind of purposeful leadership that will speed up the development of our nation and the prosperity of every Ghanaian.
