The Fear Of Nana Addo Is The Beginning Of Wisdom

You can smell the man far away, he has his hands in every pie, he stirs trouble and controversy everywhere he goes, conclusively, he is a bad material for the first gentleman of the land.

Since he first burst onto the political scene not as an activist, but as the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party has not known peace, so is the country.

A week never passes without his remnants reminding us of what danger lies ahead, should the country make a mistake to endorse his unbridled ambition to become President.

The party NPP, was a formidable party worthy of comparison with any political party anywhere in the world and then Nana Addo, took over from ex-President, John Agyekum Kufuor, the party has not only lost votes in both the 2008 and 2012 presidential and parliamentary elections, it has lost the appeal with which it attracted a lot of people from all walks of life.

The true definition of foolishness is to do the same thing repeatedly and expect a different result. The NPP can’t always settle for the next best. They too deserve the very best and when the opportunity presented itself the party chose again to settle for less and why that is the case, I leave that to future students of politics, because in all ramifications, they were presented with gentlemen of character and passion, but like the pigs that they are, wash a pig, cloth it and it will remain a pig.

Who, having the full control of his faculties, will settle for Nana Addo ahead of Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten and the newest entrant, Addai Nimoh. If it was Alan that the party, did not like for punishing President Kufuor, why not go for Addai Nimoh, this is a missed opportunity that will come back to bite the party in 2016.

Politics as I have come to know is not a waiting game, elections are equally not won on wishful thinking, if that was the case, President Barrack Obama, would have been told by the Democratic Party to bid his time.

He contested an experience politician, who had served as the First Lady of the United States of America for eight years, Hillary Clinton, is a colossus in American politics, she was rode on the popularity of her hubby, Bill Clinton, but Obama defeated her. The situation in the NPP is that apart from John Agyekum Kufuor, their next best, could best be described as mediocre.

The NPP is a formidable government in waiting, but until they see Nana Addo as a threat to their achieving that, they will languish in opposition forever.

A serious party will do a Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Threat (SWOT) analysis after an election that they thought they won, but no, they decided to rush to the Supreme Court to seek to overturn the declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC) and consequently the will of the people.

When Dr. Wereko Brobbey, told them that you cannot close the stable when the horse has bolted, he was taken to the cleaners and was actually suspended from the party. The craze in which the NPP is ready to bend the rules and circumvent every laid down procedure for Nana Addo is mind boggling.

The man is physically enfeebled, and that he’s lost a step or two mentally is not in doubt.

The fact that Ghanaians are crying that they are tired with the current administration, the fact that they want change, does not mean that they want NPP either.
Their (NPP) interpretation of the times and ascribing to themselves the ability to determine what Ghanaians want is most disingenuous for any political party and that is what is informing their decisions and actions.

Ghanaians are suffering under the current administration, so it is a done deal for us, excuse me I have a news flash for them, Ghanaians don’t want Nana Addo today, they don’t want him tomorrow and the day after, period!

Sometimes you cannot separate the messenger from the message; the two are intertwine, so it is very important to choose the right person to deliver the message. Unfortunately the NPP is desperately trying to separate the messenger from the message; they cannot sell the party to Ghanaians without Nana Addo. Ghanaians love the NPP, but not Nana Addo.

It is not the party that Ghanaians don’t like, but Nana Addo, perhaps if they had changed him, the party could increase its chances of winning the 2016 presidential election.

What he wants in the party, he gets, he decides who wins and who losses in any election. From Constituency, to Regional to National Executives elections are at his behest and choosing.

What kind of political party, will arrogate such an enormous responsibility to one man, who has shown to the whole world that he does not mean well for Ghana.

Ghana is our motherland and we all swore to protect it regardless of who is involved in its destruction. The ambitions of one man, which to many of his unrepentant followers, seem noble should not override our collective will power.

What good thing has Nana Addo brought to the NPP since he assumed the leadership position of that party, except violence. A once upon a time peaceful party, has been turned into a party of iron and blood. How long before its members, realize that his choice is a bad choice.
