Philips Ghana Launches Loyalty Scheme For Electricians

Philips Lighting West Africa headquartered in Ghana launched the first of its kind Electrician loyalty scheme on the 26th of March 2015 at the National Theatre. The mutually beneficial scheme is intended to empower and reward electricians across the country for their patronage of Philips’ quality products and lighting solutions.

The event was graced by some two hundred (200) plus electricians working in different sectors of the economy, eager to be part of the scheme that would add value to their businesses. Other key stakeholders including the Ghana Energy Commission, Institution of Engineering & Technology, Accra Technical & Training Center and key distributors were in represented in this well attended event.

The event was officially launched by the Philips Lighting West Africa’s General Manager, Mr. Felix Darko. He acknowledged the important role electricians play in every sphere of our lives be it in homes, offices, business or Government establishments and related projects in recommending and ensuring that good quality products for used for installations.

Mr. Darko spoke about Philips’ leadership role in the lighting segment and how it has diligently delivered good quality lighting products over the past one hundred plus years. He emphasised that innovation was key for Philips and hence the reason they had enhanced their current offerings from compact fluorescent lamps (CFLi) to Light Emitting Diode (LED’s) which gave better illumination, were more energy efficient and had a longer life span.

Mr. Darko said the Loyalty scheme would focus on training and development, product understanding and application, knowledge support to enable Electricians successfully pass their Ghana Energy Commission certification exams as well as rewards for making purchases of Philips Lighting products.

Mr. Benjy Ofori, Business Development Manager for Philips Solar (West Africa) explained the mechanics of the Philips Electricians Loyalty Scheme and the four (4) tier hierarchy commencing from Welcome to Platinum status based on active participation and purchases of Philips lighting products.

He said the over 200 electricians in attendance would be automatically enrolled in this pilot project meant to be rolled out in other markets in West Africa.  He reiterated some of the benefits of the scheme for the electricians; which include free lamps, bulbs, training and development, working kits, factory visits etcetera.
