Ghanaian Women Are Now Convinced About Akufo-Addos Concern For Women Participation In Governance - Mustapha Hamid

The spokesperson for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the opposition NPP's 2016 Flagbearer, Mustapha Hamid is convinced the position of Nana Akufo-Addo over the affirmative action will win him more votes from Ghanaian women in the 2016 elections.

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo has thrown his weight behind a decision by the National Executive Committee, NEC of the party to allow only females to contest incumbent female Parliamentarians of the party.

“I support the decision of the national executives...the leadership of any party is required to make difficult decisions and this is one of them,” Akufo-Addo said at the Central University College where he attended a lecture delivered by his running mate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Meanwhile, the decision by NEC has proven unpopular amongst some members of the party and it will be discussed again by NPP National Council, National Executive Committee and the party leaders to resolve the misunderstanding over the affirmative action and the proposed coastal belt candidature.

But reacting to what some party members are saying about Nana Addo’s involvement over the affirmative action, Mustapha Hamid responded on Oman FM’s National Agenda that it is now clear everybody understands Nana Addo’s position on the affirmative action in the constitution.

He again stated that Nana Akufo-Addo’s support for affirmative action has proven to Ghanaian women that he is concerned about women’s participation in governance as his stance will let Ghanaian women show appreciation by voting massively for him in the 2016 elections.

“Now everybody understands that Nana Addo is concerned about women’s participation in governance. I think that his support for the affirmative action in NPP will let Ghanaian women show appreciation that when they vote for him, he can take care of their lives,” he stated.
