The Black Stars coach says playing against the Teranga Lions in France in an international friendly was a fruitful task.
Ghana coach Avram Grant claims that the international friendly match against Senegal offered his team a good opportunity for a shakedown following the few changes made after the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
The Black Stars lost 2-1 to the Teranga Lions in Le Havre, France, on Saturday, with FC Sion striker Moussa Konate scoring twice for Senegal while Richmond Yiadom Boakye pulled one back for Ghana.
“It was a friendly game with lots of substitutions and it is a good opportunity to train and experience some things,” Grant said.
“It was a good friendly game for both sides, and for my team, it was much better in the first half but in the second half the game changed and they capitalized on the chances created.
“We were able to test the new changes of the team and it has been satisfactory,” he said.
The Black Stars will now turn their attention to Tuesday’s friendly match against Mali in Paris, which the Israeli manager believes could be a better encounter than Senegal’s.
“We have another game against Mali on Tuesday and I believe we can build on how we played the Senegal game and make things better.”
Evian defender Jonathan Mensah is doubtful after sustaining an injury against Senegal.
Mali lost their Wednesday's friendly meeting against Gabon 4-3 and would likely put up a fight against the Black Stars to avoid another debacle, with new coach Alain Giresse set to take over the outfit on April 1.
