Kotoko Apologise To Fans

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have rendered an unqualified apology to their followers for getting eliminated from the CAF Champions League  last Sunday against MC El Eulma.

A statement issued yesterday commended the fans who turned up in their numbers at the Baba Yara Stadium to support the club.

Kotoko lost 1-2 to their Algeria opponents in a second leg CAF Champions League clash which saw the Porcupine Warriors exiting the competition.

Indeed, it was the biggest turnout at the Baba Yara Stadium in recent times.

The statement signed by the Communications Director of the club, Kwaku Ahenkorah, read: “It was splendid to see our supporters respond to the call to fill the stadium in their numbers. While we have absolute faith in our supporters that they receive us well anytime we call on them, we were overwhelmed by the wonderful show of solidarity and love for the team.

“It is unacceptable and painful that, when the supporters showed so much interest, the team could not reciprocate that with victory and qualification to the next stage of the competition.

We deem it appropriate to console our disappointed supporters and Ghanaians. We let them down. Management will not make any excuses. We accept the painful defeat while looking for avenues to correct the wrongs in the team with the hope of writing a different script next time” it added.

It urged the supporters to continue to trust in the team as they adopt strategies for the domestic competitions.
