The Chairman of the Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI), Apostle Dr Stephen Kwame Amoani, has admonished religious leaders and politicians not to make statements that could plunge the nation into crisis.
“I make this clarion call to all Ghanaians not to engage in unnecessary religious comments which have the potency to distract and divide us as a nation and politicians should also desist from inflaming passions within the various religious groups in Ghana for any reason,” he exhorted.
Apostle Amoani was addressing the 58th Session of the Ministerial and General Council meeting of the church in Ho, on the theme: “Impacting our world through a Transformed Life”.
He said we should rather as a nation aim at maximising the use of our human resources irrespective of gender, tribe, religion or political affiliation to enhance the country’s fortunes. Apostle Amoani said the CACI would continue to build institutions which would promote coexistence where every citizen was each other’s keeper.
Peace and stability The chairman urged all Christians to fervently pray for the nation to continue to enjoy peace and stability as he entreated the government to create equal opportunities for all, since inequalities bred deviance and social vices.
Apostle Amoani pledged the church’s determination to actively collaborate with the state to build a better Ghana.
He observed that even though the country was currently facing challenges in the power and energy sectors, “we must not despair but rather look into the future with the knowledge that brighter days are ahead”.
Election All the former executive members were retained in office in this year’s general council meeting of the church to serve for a four-year term except the director of evangelism who stepped down for a new person.
Motorbikes were presented to deserving branches for field work and evangelism and a sod cut for the construction of an English Assembly in the Ho Municipality.
Achievements On last year’s achievements, Apostle Amoani recalled the training offered by the Christ Apostolic Agency for Relief and Development (CAARD) for over 3,500 farmers in deprived communities for the expansion of their cassava farms, as well as the preparation of business plans to facilitate loan applications for financial assistance for their cassava processing businesses.
Others were donations to needy institutions, including the National Cardiothoracic Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and scholarships to brilliant needy students, which catered for 173 students in the tertiary and second cycle schools.
Vision The Vision 2014 document projected to achieve 100 per cent membership growth rate from 414,781 to 800,000 representing more than 100 per cent was achieved. The church now has a membership of 1,150,404.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Ho Municipal Assembly, Madam Fafa Adinyirah, called on Christians to carry the message of Christ to all corners of the country and emulate him in all their endeavours.
A former Chairman of the church, Apostle Dr Michael Nimo led the Assembly to pray for the nation and its leaders.
