Blessing In Disguise: How Generator Repairers Are Cashing In On The Power Crisis

The power crisis the country is grappling with appears to be a source of bad luck to many people who have been severely hit by the energy generation deficit the country has suffered for the past three years.

The nation’s power supply has deteriorated seriously in recent times, leaving corporate institutions with no choice but to rely on power from generator sets.

This situation has negatively affected businesses across the country, resulting in the collapse of businesses and the accompanying loss of jobs. Domestic power consumers are complaining bitterly over the destruction of their household appliances due to the erratic power supply.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are also not exempted from the scourge of the energy crisis either.

However, the situation has turned out to be a blessing to generator spare parts’ dealers and repairers, since they are making huge fortunes from the customers who come to them to repair their faulty generator sets and power plants.

DAILY GUIDE findings indicate that spare parts are on high demand as a result of frequent damages to generators and power plants.

Ayub Musa, a self-employed generator repairer based at Rawlings Park in Accra, told this paper in an interview that the power crisis had put extra cash into his pockets and that he was grateful to God and the government, since its failure to nip the energy crisis in the bud had pushed more customers his way.
