Dont Give up : Ex-convicts Advised

The Light of the World School Complex at New Aplaku in Accra has feted inmates of the Awutu Camp Prison in the Central Region with a call on the prisoners to remain hopeful of a better life when they are released. In addition, ex-convicts were asked to put their prison lives behind them and demonstrate to the society that they were properly reformed and capable of contributing to national development. The headmistress of the school, Mrs Esther Hamilton, who made the call, noted that being in prison did not mean the end of a persons life. She told the inmates that they were in prison to reform so that they could come out as better people. You are going through this difficult period so that you can come out better, she said. During the visit to the prison, staff of the school, led by Mrs Hamilton, presented cooked food, drinks, cartons of bottled water, two sets of football jerseys and a football to the prison authority for the inmates. Mrs Hamilton has for the past four years been supporting the inmates of the Awutu Camp Prison during the Christmas, New Year and Easter festivities. Following an appeal made by Superintendent William Anaman, the Officer-in Charge of the prison, Mrs Hamilton promised to expand the shed at the prison to ease congestion. Mr Anaman commended the headmistress for her continuous support to the prison, and asked public-spirited persons to emulate her example.
