Kennedy Agyapong Slams Appiah Ofori

Speaking earlier today on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" show, Mr. Agyapong dismissed as a figment of Mr. Appiah Ofori's imagination, the allegation that MPs belonging to the NPP isle of the parliament received an amount of US$5000 each as inducements, for them to vote for the sale of Ghana Telecom (GT). The MP for Assin North, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has publicly denounced Hon. P.C. Appiah Ofori, MP for Asikuma-Odobin-Brakwa, describing him as noxious and a liar. He revealed that he was part of those who voted in favour of the GT-Vodafone deal but he never received any money from the government. He stated I voted in favour of the deal because I love my country and I wanted the state-owned telecommunication outfit to be competitive in the vibrant telecommunications industry rather than let it collapse. He added that, Mr Appiah Ofori must have been expecting some money after the deal because of his corrupt tendencies, hence his unsubstantiated allegation. According to him, it is a deliberate attempt by Mr Appiah Ofori to palm himself off as an anti-corruption campaigner whereas he (Ofori) is the corrupt one. In a reaction to the same allegation, the MP for Asokwa, Hon Maxwell Kofi Dwomor, deplored Mr Appiah Ofori's, saying the latter cannot be a role model to the youth in politics. "He is a despicable liar and I cannot seek advice from such a man, although he is older than I am. He has no truth to offer me when I need one, Mr Dwomor declared. He added that, because of his lies, he could not provide evidence or disclose any beneficiary among the over 100 MPs who voted in favour of the deal, claiming he had forgotten their names. He therefore urged Ghanaians to ignore Mr. P.C. Appiah Oforis allegation and treat it with the contempt it deserves
