Man Who Defrauded 22 People Nabbed

An unemployed young man who posed as a staff of Aviance Company Limited and took about GH¢5,740 from some unsuspecting victims to secure them jobs in the said outfit is in the grips of the Teshie Police Command.

The suspect, Richard Kwesi Appiah, who is resides at Aburi, came to visit his girlfriend at Teshie and told her that he could assist people get jobs with his outfit.

According to the Teshie District Police Commander, DSP Simon Agbodeka, the suspect’s girlfriend informed her cousin and some few friends, who also brought others onboard.

The accused person succeeded in collecting various sums of monies totalling the said amount from 22 people.

After collecting the monies, Richard failed to honour the promise and went into hiding. Some of the victims proceeded to Aviance Company Limited to make enquiries about him, only to be told Richard was not an employee there.

However, on April 2, Richard was arrested at his hideout in Aburi. In his caution statement, he admitted the offence and mentioned one Fiamenyo as an accomplice, but, however, failed to lead the police to arrest him.
