Dr Henry Hebert Lartey, leader of the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP), has stated that the party is working under the carpet to attract more supporters to enable it pull a surprise in the 2016 General Election.
He said the party would not make noise about its plans and strategies, but rather focus on strengthening its structures to build a formidable force to garner more votes in 2016.
Dr Lartey made these remarks in Koforidua during the party’s regional delegates conference to elect executives to steer the affairs of the party in the region.
“We will start talking when all is set and done; at the moment we are travelling across every corner of Ghana, listening to the stories and the experiences of the people, talking to them about their hopes, dreams and expectations for the future,” he said.
According to Dr Lartey, Ghanaians were appreciating the GCPP domestication philosophy as a way to improve their living standards.
He said the party would undertake a door-to-door sensitisation for it to become attractive and win more votes.
At the end of the regional elections supervised by officials of the Eastern Regional Electoral Commission, Mr Joseph Atteh, a 43-year-old building contractor, was elected chairman.
Mr Isaac Nyarko was elected Vice Chairman, Emmanuel Kudaya, Regional Secretary, Ebenezer Anokye grasped the Treasurer’s position, and Mr Godwin Atta Asare was voted as the officer in-charge of education.
The rest were Mrs Vida Ofori, women’s organiser, Mr Emmanuel Akonnor, regional organiser and Mr Stephen Arthur, Youth organiser.
Dr Lartey congratulated the new officers, and urged them to immediately go to the grassroots to intensify education on the domestication philosophy.
