Jordan Ayew Named FC Lorient Player Of The Month

The 23-year-old has been voted best player for the month of March at the Ligue 1 outfit. Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has scooped best player award for the month of March at his French club FC Lorient. The former Marseille player polled 42% of the votes ahead Benjamin Lecomte (26%) and Vincent Le Goff (26%). The third son of Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pele scored twice last month against Caen and PSG. He grabbed the winning goal against Caen, while his strike against Les Parisiens was only a consolation as Laurent Blancs side won the match 3-1. Ayew is currently the top scorer for Les Merlus after netting nine goals in 25 Ligue 1 matches. He will be rewarded during their game against Toulouse on Saturday April 18 at the Stade de Moustoir. Lorient are fighting to avoid relegation as they lie 16th on the league log with 35 points, same number of points with Toulouse, who sit at 18th. Coach Sylvain Ripoll will be expecting more brilliant showing from the 23-year-old in the teams remaining six matches as the battle for survival intensifies. Jordan made a permanent switch to Lorient last season from Sochaux where he spent a few months while on loan from Marseille. He was part of the Ghana team that won silver at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.
