The Sefwi enclave of the Western Region was greeted with shock and disbelief when Musa Amadu, a 76-year-old Mossi cocoa farmer, was murdered in cold blood at the Abotsi cottage at Pillar 34, near Yawmatwa in the Bia West District, on April 6.
Amadu, who has a wife and four children, according to the police was murdered by some unidentified assailants in his cottage.
The Ghanaian Times learnt that, the Yawmatwa community, is sad, since such an incident had never happened in the area, but, the Sefwi Debiso Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Wiafe, has assured the people of firm security, urging them to remain calm.
“We are on the ground and we have assured them that, we would get to the bottom of this matter,” he said.
Giving the background of the case, he said Musa used to visit the Abotsi cottage at Pillar 34 and normally passed the night there, explaining that on April 6, the old man left Yawmatwa and went to the cottage but did not return home.
On the third day, April 9, ASP Wiafe said, his children went to Abotsi to look for him and when they arrived there, they saw their father murdered in his room and lying in pool of blood, with the body decomposed.
“The throat was cut from the left side of the head , with a small skin left hanging, indeed, the head was almost chopped off,” he stressed.
The children, he said, reported the incident to the police on April 10 and when they visited the scene, the body was in an almost decomposed state and was conveyed to Sefwi Essam Government Hospital, where, after the coroner’s advice, Dr. Richard Koomson, performed the post mortem.
ASP Wiafe told The Ghanaian Times that, the body has been released to the family, for burial.
