Paul Adom Otchere Hosts Herbert Mensah On Good Evening Ghana

International businessman and former football administrator, Herbert Amponsah Mensah, will take his turn on the award winning live current affairs programme, Good Evening Ghana on Metro TV on Tuesday evening.

It is expected the interview will largely focus on the issue of the recent xenophobic attacks on African nationals in South Africa and sports.

The one-time Country Manager of MNET/West Africa, on Monday, expressed disappointment in South Africans for their recent barbaric and inhuman attacks on foreign nationals.

Herbert Mensah described the attacks by mostly South African youth as “disgraceful” and posted on his facebook wall that the situation “sicken me to the core” and "enrage me as a person and sadden me as an African".

On sports as a subject, it is likely the interview will also delve into the May 9th stadium disaster as well as the annual remembrance walk Herbert Mensah initiated.

The business mogul who placed Asante Kotoko on a high pedestal in Africa in the early 2000s when he was the club’s Chief Executive, has shown much in remembering the victims of the May 9th stadium disaster in 2001,

The tragedy, the worst to be recorded in Africa, saw nearly 126 football fans die at the Accra Sports Stadium during the league match between arch-rivals Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Accra. It was during the tenure of Mr Mensah when the incident occurred and it was double agony after the visitors lost the match 2-1, courtesy a pair of goals by Hearts’ Ishmael Addo

Currently the President of the Ghana Rugby Association (GRA), Herbert Mensah recently rejected reports that he was part of Ghana 2017 African Cup of Nations bid committee that attended a ceremony by the Confederation of African Football to name the host of the 2017 tournament.

According to him, he was nowhere near Cairo eventhough his name appeared on the list that attended the event.

A couple of weeks ago, he described the ‘echoes of jubilation’ by Ghanaians after the failed 2017 AFCON bid as a clear indication of the continued fury of ‘the people’ following the disastrous campaign at the 2014 World Cup.

Noted for his candour and outspokenness, viewers are sure to be served a good dose of both since he is not one to shy away from getting things off his chest.

The live telecast of Good Evening Ghana is at 10pm.
