The Ghana forward has been named as one of the all-time notorious players in French football.

Ghana international Jordan Ayew was on Tuesday named by French football website francefootball.fr as the fourth most stubborn player ever in the history of the country's football.

In a recent poll conducted by the site and titled ‘Top Five Temperamental and Stubborn Players in French Football History’, in which fans across the world voted, the FC Lorient striker scored a total of  12,084 votes, representing 5%, to emerge fourth behind former Marseille midfielder Joey Barton and others.

Among some of the incidents reported by the website which motivated the votes for Ayew was his altercation with David Beckham during a PSG-Marseille match at the Parc des Prince in February 2013.

Ayew has also been criticised for constantly belittling the performance of his team-mates at Lorient.

 “Look at the stats as we speak. People can say anything but I am involved in all the goals of Lorient. If I do not score, I make assists. I cannot do it alone! Even if you bring Messi in the team or coach Guardiola, it would not change anything,” Ayew told a press conference after their game against Toulouse last month.

Also, as a former Marseille player, people felt he should have shown some respect by not celebrating when he scored against his former club. However, Ayew did the contrary when he transformed a spot kick against l’OM.

“In December of last year, Jordan Ayew netted a penalty against his former club Olympique Marseille and taunted Marseille fans, who were always on his neck during his time at Stade Velodromme,”francefootball.fr said.

Despite being described as one of the naughtiest players in France, the Marseille-born striker has been nominated for this year’s Marc-Viviene Foe award for the best African player in France.

Jordan, 24, has found back of the net 13 times in 35 appearances for Lorient this season.
