Naa Dedei Wins New Face of GIJ

The conference hall of the La Trade Fair Centre was all elegance when it hosted the grand finale of the Face of GIJ 2015 pageant last Friday. The night opened with a fashion segment of casual wear followed by choreography from the 15 beautiful ladies dancing to a blend of songs from different artistes. The MCs for the night, Jay Kodwo Dasebre of Campus base TV and Ganyobi Achawa of Ghanas Most Beautiful fame took to the stage to coordinate and control activities for the night. After their introductions, an evening wear and talent expose` took place before the number of the contestants was cut down to 10 based on their performance. Bridget Otoo of TV3, Ms Doris Adom Asomaning of Top Model Ghana fame, Nana Mensah and Kwame, former face of Woodin, who were judges for the night had a tough time but interestingly, did an amazing job choosing the best 10 out of the 15 delegates. Each of the 10 ladies was allowed to give a presentation on the theme, The business woman; celebrating women entrepreneurs within a time-frame of two minutes but of course some were able to meet the timeline, others did not do that well. Some of the ladies fumbled with the words and the usual gbaa set in and threw the audience into fits of laughter. Before the winner was announced, there were prizes given to some of the delegates in the hotspot category. Marigold Frimpong was awarded Miss Humanity, Ekua Daniels received the Miss Eloquence award, Grace Mensah received award for Miss Photogenic and Victoria Doe clinched awards for Miss Talent and Miss Congeniality. Finally, Miss Hephzibah Naa Dedei Armah was crowned Face of GIJ 2015 with Miss Justina Odoi and Miss Ekua Daniels coming up as first and second runners up respectively. For coming tops, Miss Hephzibah walked home with a table top fridge and other souvenirs from sponsors of the event. Miss Justina Odoi received a table top fridge as well for being first runner up and Miss Ekua Daniels received a microwave for the second runner up award. The programme was put together by the Womens Commission of the GIJ SRC as part of the Womens Week celebration and sponsored by Hi Sense, Loop Graphix, Reflex Images and Laam Cosmetics. The winner, Naa Dedei, told Showbiz that she was in awe at the outcome of the event even though she had put ion all her best to win the crown. I am so excited I dont know what to say. The competition was a very keen one but Im grateful to God for the outcome and also to the Womens Commission, family and friends and all those who supported me, she said.
