Kwaw Kese "Satisfied" With One Day Sentence

Lawyer for hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese claims he is very much happy at the day sentence handed him by the Kumasi High Court.

Lawyer Kwasi Boaitey said Kwaw Keses satisfaction stems from the fact that when he is done serving the sentence, he would be free to move around and carry out his day to day activities.

The trial has really limited the movement of Kwaw Kese and also affected him very much, so once hes done serving the sentence, he would be free, he said. Born Emmanuel Botchway, Kwaw Kese who was arrested for smoking wee at a location in Kumasi was sentenced to a day imprisonment and fined GHC12000 by a Kumasi High court.

Many were disappointed with the courts decision arguing that might mean Kwaw Kesse pleaded guilty to the charge which he had earlier denied and led to the commencement of the trail.

However, since the trail has run from November of 2014 to the first quarter of 2015 costing the Abodam rapper time and money, Lawyer Boaitey said his legal team decided that it was best for him to plead guilty and face his sentence.

And the punishment for the crime, he said, was for him to serve a day sentence behind bars and also fined GHC12000.

Whats the point in spending two years in a trialwhen the punishment is that minimal, so we advised him to go for the punishment and he is happy about that, he said.

Asked what the day sentence meant in law, the Lawyer said all was left to the interpretation of the Prison wardens since they are the best to explain what the sentence means.

One day sentence is a technical sentence and I dont know where he is right nowwhat I know is that if you search for him tomorrow, you will find him, he said.
