PLB Turns Down Heart of Oak's Request For Ashgold Clash to be Postopned

The Premier League Board of Ghana will not consider Accra Hearts of Oak's written request for the FCPP League midweek fixture with Obuasi Asgold to be postponed, Ghanasportsonline.com can confirm.

The PLB says it has no option than to turn down the Phobians request for the week 15 fixture to be postponed, insisting the body has a very tight schedule to deal with.

Accra Hearts of Oak are Ghana's only remaining representative in the ongoing CAF Inter Club competition, having reached the 1/16 stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Herbert Addo's side will welcome Malian side AC Djoliba to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday for the return leg and had petitioned the PLB to postpone the clash with Ashgold, to make way for adequate preparation for the Djoliba clash.

Hearts of Oak Public Relations Officer Muheeb Saeed confirmed that the club had written to the PLB on the request but has been turned down. The club spokesperson further indicated that the whole team feels disappointed with the by the League Management Body.

Hearts of Oak lead the tie 2-1 from the first leg played in Bamako last Friday. Gilbert Fiamenyo and Paul Acquah netted for Hearts with Mamoudou Traore reducing the deficit in a 12-minute second-half explosion.

The winner of the tie will engage in a play-off with one of the clubs that will fail at the 1/16th stage last hurdle of the CAF Champions League.
