Residents of Upper Denkyira East have expressed profound gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the massive development going on in the area.
According to them, politicians have over the years been depriving them of their fair share of development which is not the case with the current administration.
They intimated that the Mahama administration has ensured that the municipality gets its share of the national cake.
In an interview with Joshua Kweku Amissah, a resident who claims to have been staying in the area for the past 35 years, President Mahama has proved to be a listening President by tackling some of their pressing developmental needs.
He stated that although the country has been facing energy crisis, some communities in the municipality enjoy electricity in spite of its scarcity.
He noted that road networks have also improved enhancing the transportation of goods and produce in the cocoa growing area.
The youth and traditional rulers from Kyekyewere, one of the communities in the area, were all full of praise for the government and implored Ghanaians to extend his mandate.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the area, Madam Emelia Ankomah, noted that her municipality has benefitted a lot from the “Better Ghana” agenda as 36 communities have been connected to the national grid for the first time since independence.
Madam Ankomah commended the president for fulfilling all the promises made to the people of the area and promised to work hard to retain the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in power.
The Central Regional Communications Director of the NDC, Mr. Kwesi Dawood, stated that government was undertaking 37 educational projects in the Upper Denkyira East including a 24-unit E-classroom block for the community day Senior High School at Kyekyewere, six-unit classroom block at Kumakrom as well as providing and supplying educational needs of the people in the municipality.
He added that bitumen surfacing of roads in the area was also progressing steadily while the construction of 25 new boreholes in 25 communities was ongoing.
“Rehabilitation of 14 old boreholes has been completed and construction of 10 new boreholes at Rubbermu, Anwunahene, Zion No 2, Mfantseman, Adjoun and Mfuom among other communities has been completed for use,” he said.
Mr. Dawood added that the Dunkwa-On-Offin town water project has been completed while a rural water system has been completed for use at Denkyira Asikuma.
