Ablekuma West NPP in Turmoil

Supporters of the main New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ablekuma West Constituency branch of the party in the Greater Accra Region are up in arms with the party’s executives both in the regional and the national levels.

According to them, overt and covert actions by both executives have given indications that they are endorsing an illegality within the party.

The Ablekuma West NPP, whose Member of Parliament is Mrs. Ursula Ekuful, is divided over allegations that the current constituency executives were handpicked in gross respect of the laws of the land.

The aggrieved members, now operating under the name “Occupy Ablekuma West NPP,” said various attempts to persuade the party leadership to correct the illegality created by one Theophilus Tettey, who ended up being chairman of the constituency hit hard rock.

Suspecting that there were underhand dealings with Theo, as he is affectionately called in the constituency, the group hinted that the NPP risks losing the seat if the leadership looks on unconcerned and allowed the wrong act to continue.
The spokesperson of the group, Ms Millicent Okoh, supported by Joseph Essiamah and Madam Lydia Quaye, said though the NDC has proved to be non-performing, it stands the chance of reclaiming the seat on a silver platter.

“in fact, some of us are aware of certain things which are not good for public domain but our main concern is that the supposed leaders in the constituency are occupying the position illegally and until the party comes to solve the issues, the party risks losing the seat to the non-performing NDC.”
