Former Youth and Sports Minister, Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has taken a swipe at Justice Senyo Dzamefe for ‘over-dramatising’ his weeping when he appeared before the commission to answer questions.

Afriyie-Ankrah, speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Thursday, said the commissioner was unfair to him as he was not weeping because of questions about monies spent at the Brazil 2014 tournament posed to him, but because of issues on his emotions.

“I never wept at the commission because of money issues…I wept as a result of the question on how I felt after the ordeals in Brazil…and I think there was over-dramatisation of the entire issue by the commissioner,” he said.

The 2012 campaign manager of President John Mahama led the Black Stars to the soccer mundial in Brazil 2014 where the team woefully under-performed.

Issues that emerged out of the trip to the South American country led to the establishment of the Dzamefe commission to go into the case.

The three-member commission subsequently invited several persons to give evidences at the commission and the former minister was one of such witnesses.

However, Elvis and former Adentan MP, Kwadwo Adu-Asare wept in front of the cameras when they were invited there.

Afriyie-Ankrah said he chose to remain silent at the over-hyped weeping story in the media arguing that he knew the truth would certainly be out one day.

He was however motivated to come out to speak on it after the President of the Central University College (CUC), Prof Kwesi Yankah named him as part of the persons who have been dumped at the Presidency after engaging in corrupt acts.

This comment, according to Afriyie-Ankrah was unfortunate as he believes a Professor should have spoken out of factual analysis and not from emotions.
