With only about 18 months to the crucial 2016 polls, the ruling National Democratic Congress in Ghana seem not to have learnt any lesson(s) from the fall to grass of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and his People’s Democratic Party in Nigeria, as intense power play is about to rock the governing NDC just as it happened in Nigeria.
While many in the NDC and even people outside the party are beginning to think all was well in government and that, the ruling party was solidly united behind President John Dramani Mahama for the battle in 2016; The aL-hAJJ’s intelligence has picked disturbing plots to divide the party's ranks.
Very reliable information backed by audio recordings in the possession of this paper revealed how some NDC kingpins, dissatisfied with the recent changes at the Flagstaff House, are energetically recruiting some media houses and persons to kick start smear campaign against certain stalwarts at the seat of government.
In the coming days, these "enemies of the NDC’s progress" whose identities The aL-hAJJ would for now not unveil, plan going to town with wicked and malicious allegations to the effect that National Security Advisor, Alhaji Baba Issifu Kamara masterminded recent changes at the presidency.
Those behind the yet-to-be rolled out dastardly act, this paper has gathered, are pointing accusing fingers at Alhaji Baba Kamara for allegedly plotting the ouster of former Chief of Staff, Prosper Douglas Kweku Bani only to be replaced by his protégé, Julius Debrah.

The Baba Kamara accusers say his decision to ‘prevail’ on the President to appoint the former Local Government Minister as Chief of Staff fits into his grand scheme to install himself as the de facto Chief of Staff.
Also being recruited for this destructive mission, The aL-hAJJ can confirm, are leaders of some so-called Civil Society Organizations, who are expected to harshly criticize “anything coming” from the Chief of Staff and/or the National Security Advisor.
However, it is yet unclear to this paper, if some of the senior journalists contacted to go for the kill will carry out this wicked assignment as those The aL-hAJJ spoke to said they have turned down the offer.
President Mahama early this year relieved his boyhood friend, Prosper Bani, of his Chief of Staff post and appointed him ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary. Mr Bani’s place was taken over by Julius Debrah who was Minister of Local Government and Rural Development.
A statement signed by the Minister for Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah also announced the reassignment of senior presidential staffer on special duties, Alhaji Baba Kamara as the new National Security Adviser taking over from Mr William Aboah.
Mr Bani’s dismissal was occasioned by intense calls from party supporters, especially from his native region, Volta, on the President to fire him on account that his continued stay in office was slimming the party's chances of winning elections in 2016.
Although Mr Bani’s removal was hailed by many in the NDC family, it has not gone down well with his backers, who are scheming to direct their arsenals towards his successor, Julius Debrah and Baba Kamara.
Though the real and full motives of these "enemies of NDC progress" is unclear, one strong motivation this paper has gathered, however, is allegations that, Alhaji Baba Kamara was instrumental in the removal of the former Chief of Staff and also influenced Julius Debrah’s appointment so as to remotely control him.
Meanwhile, many in the NDC believe the appointment of Julius Debrah and Baba Kamara makes the party adequately represented in President Mahama's government, as the duo are thought to be grass root politicians who will bridge the gap between party and government in order to avoid the Goodluck Jonathan and PDP episode.
Political analysts have blamed President Goodluck’s defeat to Gen Buhari to the lack of synergy between his government and chieftains of the PDP.
The lack of cohesion and harmony caused serious disaffection in the party as a result of which kingpins of the PDP resigned in droves to join the opposition APC party. Stay tuned.
