Azumah Nelson: Mayweather vs Pacquiao Not in Class of Greatest Fights

Boxing Legend Azumah Nelson has joined many boxing legends and the sport's fanatics who believe that the much hyped "Fight of the century" failed to live up to the billing. It was billed as the biggest of fight of the century and money-wise it was. Floyd Money Mayweather defeated Manny Pac Man Pacquiao to retain the welterweight boxing championship. The bout went for full 12 rounds and the final decision was unanimous. But, was the Fight Of The Century boring. After the results, there was an audible grumble in the MGM Grand Garden Arena crowd as the fans made their way to the exits not so much for the decision, but for the visceral disappointment when a fight doesnt end with heavy damage to either fighter. In an exclusive interview with Accra-based Atinka FM, the Hall of Famer said he shares sentiments expressed by the boxing world. "I don't think this fight can even be considered among the greatest bouts I know. "I think the hype was because this is their era and this was the way to sell it but the bouts I have watched and heard about like Marvin Hagler, Hearns, The smoking Joe and all that, this is not one", Azumah also added that he felt disappointed with Pacquaio's performance on the day saying he expected the Filipino to do more than what he did on the night. "I think Pacman didn't take his time and that was what killed him", "immediately he started, I said hey this man has to revise his style or he will suffer and so when he still used same tactics after the 4th round, I expected him to lose". Azumah Nelson had tipped the Filipino boxer to defeat Floyd Mayweather if but admits that if the Pacman fights like he did against Floyd on the night, he can never beat the American in ten attempts.
