Dont Discuss Monetary Issues In The Presence of House-Helps - Police Warns

The Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno upon the robbery attack at the residence of the sister of the late Prime Minister, Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia has counselled employers of house-helps to be circumspect with financial issues in the presence of their house-helps.

According to him, prominent people who suffer armed robbery attacks are most often engineered by insiders working in the houses of the victims.

This advice comes on the heels of the recent armed robbery attack at the residence of Madam Ama Brema Busia, a former member of Council of State, at Alhaji Tabora in Accra as a former house-boy of Madam Busia, Godsway Nutakor, 25 with his accomplices Bright Asamoah, 19 and Christian Kwame Anyidoho, 25 made away with $35,500; 3,000 Euros; £300 and GH¢25,000.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno warned that employers of house-helps should always re-check the type of people they recruit or recruitment agents bring to them in order to avoid similar attack made on Madam Busia by her former house-boy.

….the prominent people who suffer armed robbery attacks cannot rule out the factor of an insider; there will be somebody who has been a house-boy, house-girl, security and garden boy….there is always an insider factor to every robbery which happens in homes….let’s be careful when we discuss money with business partners and children abroad on phone in the company of your driver or any of your house-helps”, he advised.

The Accra Regional Police Commander however alerted employers to severely monitor house-helps who show extreme sincerity and anxious to know everything in the house as such persons turn out to be the bad ones who later lead robbery attack on their employers.

He explained that some of these house-helps set in envy as they get to know the fortunes of their employers, feeling they deserve some or the same fortunes which later translate into killing their employers through armed robbery attacks.
