Blay Must Be Given The Needed Respect Amoako Tuffour

A member of the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) Council of Elders, Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffour has backed decisions made by the first national vice chairman to call for an emergency meeting.

He said inasmuch as Freddie Blay can steer the affairs of the party in the absence of the chairman, he needs not to be taken for granted.

“Yes we have a chairman in NPP and if the chairman is not around, the first vice chair is the one to take charge and so what Freddie Blay did was on the right direction. It’s a common sense for everyone to know that when the president is not around, the vice takes the position” he said.

Mr. Blay on Monday May 4, 2015 called for an emergency steering committee meeting at the NPP headquarters in the absence of the national chairman and general secretary.

Though the General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong has stated that he was unaware of the emergency Steering Committee meeting, Mr. Blay insisted that he [Agyepong] was aware of the meeting.

The National Chairman Paul Afoko is also out of Ghana and expected to return this week. The move, which has been described as a conspiracy has sparked tension in the party.

But Dr. Tuffour on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Tuesday stressed that the meeting was constitutional.

He called on the national leadership to put party interest first and not allow their egos control them.

“we always allow the power we have to overtake our minds. We should stop talking and misbehaving and try as much as possible to move forward".
