Strange Cough Hits Breman Community

Residents of Breman Baako, a farming community in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa District in the Central Region have been hit with a strange severe cough for over a month now.

According to the inhabitants, they are not able to tell the cause of the severe cough. Several attempts by the various health authorities in the District to find a cure have so far not yielded any positive result.

The situation has been made worse by the rejection of the National Health Insurance card by health facilities due to government’s failure to pay for services rendered. The impoverished farmers have thus been left to their fate.

The Acting Director of Health Ghana Services for Asikuma Odoben Brakwa, Samuel Kwabena Ofosu who confirmed the situation to Adomonline.com samples have been collected and sent to the Noguchi Medical Research Center for further analysis. The health directorate is closely monitoring the situation on daily basis, he assured.

Meanwhile the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, has arranged for a medical team to visit the area and provide free medical screening and treatment.

The medical team educated the people on health related issues such as diet, pregnancy and how to take their medications properly.

The MP advised them to report any complications to the nearest health facilities for early treatment.
