Fante Chiefs Demand Apology From Nana Addo And NPP

Chiefs in the Central Region are demanding an apology from the leadership of the main opposition New Patriotic Party over an alleged derogatory remark made by one of its communicator.

Mr. Eugene Antwi is reported to have labelled Hon. Isaac Osei, the Member of Parliament for Subin a “fool” in a secret tape which was played on Muntie FM on Monday. His reason was saying this is mainly because the MP has Fante blood flowing in him.

His remark has angered some chiefs in the Fante area and they have warned that the NPP would have itself to blame if it refuse to heed to their demand.

Spokesperson for the aggrieved Chiefs, Nana Appredontwe IX spoke on Peace FM news and explained that he doesn’t understand why Eugene Antwi would have to label the MP a ‘fool’ simply because he is a Fante.

Nana Appredontwe IX who is also the Nkwamohene of the Nkusukum Traditional Area noted that “we Fantes are not fools. This is about the second time they (NPP) have said that…recently Mr. Osafo Marfo said a similar thing. It would continue this way if we don’t nip it in the bud”.

He therefore called on the flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Akufo Addo to come out and render an apology to all Fantes on behalf of Eugene Antwi.

We the chiefs of the Fante area have taken the matter seriously and we want the leadership of the NPP, especially the flagbearer to come out and apologize”.
