NPP Gen Sec: God Knows My Heart And Hands Are Clean

NPP’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong has bemoaned the wrong perception being harbored by some party executives concerning his intentions for the party ahead of the 2016 general elections.

According to him, the report by his first vice chairman, Hon Freddie Blay that he [Agyapong] refused to respond to the invitation sent to him to attend the emergency meeting is not true.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Mr. Agyapong explained that his phone was with his bodyguard when the call came; adding he only received a text message from his first vice chairman saying ‘I was trying to reach you’.

God knows everybody’s heart and those doing bad things in the party, God will punish them. If you begin to experience bad things in your life, it is to tell you that God himself is punishing you and so everybody should check their behavior in the party. My heart and hands are clean; God knows I am well intentioned and I am in to serve my party”, he said.

He however considered the emergency meeting as unnecessary with the agenda to deploy the executives to supervise the vetting because to him the executives are already going round expecting the vetting.

Touching on the waiver letter he said he has the constitutional backing to carry out such discretion; insisting it is an act of disrespect for regional executive to thwart his discretion by telling the public that the waiver letter means nothing.

He blamed his first vice chairman, Hon Freddie Blay for the media attack on his personality, reminding them that every attempt to disgrace him as a General Secretary of the NPP will come back to haunt the party in the end.

...you (Freddie Blay) are still engineering people in the media to attack me that I was eating fufu which was why I didn’t come for the meeting…..the newspaper that is owned by the first vice chairman of the party; someone who claim to love NPP has allowed his paper to design a cartoon of me eating fufu. Does this show you love the party? Or you came to simply destroy the party?” he quizzed.
