Aduana Stars Highest Paid Player Earns $170 a Month And That Is Enough, Says Club Chief

Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars Albert Commey says that the highest earner at his club takes home GHø600 a month and claims that is enough to sustain a footballer in the Ghanaian top flight.

Commey, who serves on the Ghana Premier League Board believes that many Ghanaian footballers live a beggarly life largely because they are fiscally indiscipline, rather than attributing the situation to low remuneration at clubs.

The former Accra Hearts of Oak spokesperson however went public with the earnings of top footballers in the 2010 Ghana league champions, disclosing that the highest paid player in the clubs nets GHø 600.

And that he says, is enough for a footballer in the Ghana Premier League to make ends meet.

"The least paid player in the club takes home 400 cedis and the highest takes 600 and that is enough in the context of Ghana," Commey told Asempa FM.

"If you add all that he will get within the month from winning bonuses and all that, average it to 700 Cedis and any player who wants to live a good life investing can use it to invest",

"Why do we pay them enticement fees, I give it out for you to know that you use that money to cater for other pressing issues in times of need," he added.

The astute football administrator earlier this month labelled Ghanaian footballers as fiscally indiscipline, comparing their financial habits to taxi drivers.

Several Ghanaian players have gone bankrupt after retiring due to their extravagant lifestyle during their active days and Commey believes the players are well paid enough to invest.
