As party executives are being paid monthly salaries for their stewardship, the General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mr. Kwabena Agyapong says he has never paid a cent from his party since he assumed his position as the party’s Chief Executive Officer.

According to him, every trip he has made in the name of the party has come from his pocket as he is aware of the financial challenges in NPP; adding he sometimes contribute to make sure people are paid at the Headquarters.

Speaking on Okay FM’s "Ade Akye Abia" Morning Show on Thursday, Kwabena Agyapong said apart from him, there are some executives that take money from the party for fuel to even short distance journey.

“In everything, they will come and claim money and these people are saying they are rather supporting the party and they turn around to accuse me of destroying the party despite my contributions and sacrifices for the party,” he stated.

“What is important is what you can do to make the party come to power and not the personal benefit or interest. I heard they took money after the emergency meeting to go rounds to inspect the vetting but I travel to do party duties with my money,” he added.

He fumed that apart from God, his detractors cannot damage his personality and his future with lies and false accusations; asserting that those creating the tension in the party are rather thinking of agenda 2020 because they think he [Agyapong] has some potential in NPP.

“They are rather thinking of agenda 2020 because they know I have the potential but I am not part of those contesting in 2016; I want us to work hard to wrestle power from NDC. I will feel the pride as General Secretary of NPP, if the party comes into power in 2016 but they are saying I don’t want Nana Addo to win power in 2016; meaning I want to be a losing General Secretary and have you heard this before?”, he fumed.

“I have said this severally on different occasions and even to the Presidential candidate but they don’t believe me; why this hatred for me? What they are doing is not spiritually right; with this, God will not bless you because you hate someone for no cause and accusing me falsely. If you ask them to tell you exactly what I have done wrong in the party and since I became G.S, they can’t say it but they are still spreading propaganda all over that Kwabena Agyapong and Afoko are destroying NPP”, he bemoaned.
