NPP Is More United Than Man U

Deputy General Secretary of the opposition NPP has dismissed suggestions that the party is confused, divided and just not ready to govern given the internal wrangling.

Nana Obiri-Yeboah told Joy News “we are more united than Manchester United”, promising that a return to power in 2016 is inevitable.

The NPP spent the week in the media for the wrong reasons after the National Chairman Paul Afoko and General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong were missing in a Steering Committee meeting on Monday.

The meeting which was not supposed to attract much media attention but it did because of the loud absence of the two leaders.

Called by the first Vice Chairman Freddie Blay, the rare absence of the two has informed passionate internal party bickering. General Secretary feels his authority is being usurped.

But the Deputy General Secretary is unmoved by perceptions of a confused party. According to him a “misunderstanding” between two party executives is “not sufficient enough to jump to a conclusion that there is confusion in the NPP”.

He stressed that disagreements are a natural human phenomena which shouldn’t be overplayed to mean something more.

He lauded a member of the party’s Council of Elders George Ayisi Boateng for his call for a ceasefire and a return to dialogue focused on winning the December 2016 general elections.

It is “good advice”, he pointed out.

“Even in the angelic realm...pieces of advice are offered” he turned to heaven for examples.

Regardless of the internal bickering, Nana Obiri-Yeboah vowed that “Ghanaians are going to drop the yam. We are going to win”.

“You can mark my words”, he stressed.
