Mahama Should "Tame" Rawlings Now; It's Time To Stand Up To Him!!! - Pratt Charges

Kwesi Pratt, Editor-in-Chief of the Insight newspaper, has cautioned President John Dramani Mahama to "tame" former President Jerry John Rawlings over his recent statements against the Presidency.

Ex-President and founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Rawlings on Monday May 11 disclosed that he didn't campaign for the Mahama team during the 2012 elections.

Ex-President Rawlings revealed this to Ghanaians citing reasons to back his assertion;

Mahama won on his own merit and let’s recall that there was an air of desperation and near panic when the Prof passed. This situation worked in Mahama’s favour and he literally campaigned alone. Eighty per cent of the national executives couldn’t campaign without following him. That’s how much credibility they had lost.

I did not campaign for him, neither did I campaign against him so let’s give him his due and acknowledge the fact that he did most of the work by himself. This was the reality. This time round almost everyone’s political credibility has suffered terribly, including Mahama and that’s why I was saying that the new hope will now come from a re-invigorated and reenergized party machinery...“If advantage is not taken to do what needs to be done by the party leadership I am not too sure 2016 will be favourable." he revealed.

Reacting to former President Rawlings' remarks, Kwesi Pratt who sounded fed up with Mr. Rawlings' character called on President John Mahama to wind his "magic" wand on him and shut his mouth up immediately.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr. wondered why the appropriate personalities in the nation have not risen up against Mr. Rawlings.

I cannot understand what is happening and why nobody is standing up…People should stand up and defend what is just and what is right. We cannot tolerate this forever. We cannot as a people tolerate this forever. It serves President Mahama right. He has the magic. He knows how to tame him. He should tame him now.”

Contributing to Peace FM's Morning Show "Kokrokoo", Mr. Pratt asked Mr. Rawlings to clearly define the wrongs that the people of Ghana have committed against him to merit his continuous outbursts.

What sin have we so committed against this man? What have we done wrong? What sin have we committed to merit his actions…What have done wrong? Why is it that every Ghanaian is a thief? Every Ghanaian has lost his/her credibility? Every Ghanaian is recalcitrant? Why? What sin have we committed as a nation?" he questioned.

He noted that Mr. Rawlings' comments do not augur well for the family of late President Mills and further added that it's a stab at the back of the NDC administration.

Imagine Naadu Mills (President Mills’ wife) in the house and she gets a copy of this to read or hears us reading it; imagine the consequences for Naadu Mills? Imagine his brother Cardinal Mills, imagine him listening to us and hearing this said about his brother...My goodness, what is this?

"...The fact that the founder of the party comes out to declare he won’t campaign for you in the elections is itself a campaign against the party. Even worse that the founder can come out to say that I have not seen any good thing that the party has done since 2012 elections to form the basis for my campaign."
